Indian Equity Markets Open Lower Amid Global Volatility
The Indian equity markets opened lower on Thursday, with investors digesting global market cues and the latest US inflation data. The BSE Sensex fell over 100 points to touch 77,850, while the NSE Nifty50 dropped nearly 80 points to 24,350.
Asian markets showed resilience, however, as tech stocks rebounded and the softer reaction to US inflation eased some concerns around tighter monetary policy. South Korea's Kospi led regional gains with a 3.76% increase, while Japan's Nikkei 225 advanced 1.45%.
Crude oil prices broke their six-day winning streak, easing as OPEC+ forecasted lower oil demand in 2026. Brent crude futures for August fell 1.15% to $87.96 per barrel.
