Indian Equity Markets Suffer Fifth Consecutive Weekly Loss
The Indian equity markets suffered their fifth consecutive weekly loss as the benchmark Sensex plummeted 1,734 points to close at 74,781.76.
The Nifty 50 index also declined 2.09% to end at 23,398.10, marking its longest weekly decline since July 2025.
The week was dominated by a surge in Brent crude oil prices past the $109 per barrel mark amid escalating US-Iran tensions and a weakening rupee that touched 95.57 against the US dollar.
The Nifty IT index emerged as the biggest drag, falling 3.50% during the week and 21.14% so far in 2026.
