Indian Fuel Prices Unchanged Amid Iran-US War Developments
Petrol and diesel prices in India remained unchanged on August 9 as Iran put forth new terms to end its war with the United States. Despite fluctuations in global oil prices, fuel rates set by state-run Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) continue to align with the last major price revision that came about over two months ago.
The Brent crude, a global benchmark, climbed 1.3% to settle at $83.55 a barrel on Friday, while West Texas Intermediate crude fell 0.3% to $77.06 a barrel. The US Senate passed the Russia Sanctions Bill seeking tougher sanctions on countries buying Russian oil and gas.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the bill, accusing him of failing to protect India's interests. Kejriwal alleged that US President Donald Trump was increasingly interfering in the country's affairs.
