Indian Gold Demand Slumps Amid Weak Seasonal Sales
India's gold demand fell by six percent in the April-June quarter to 131.4 tonnes, impacted by weak seasonal sales and higher customs duty.
The World Gold Council reported that total demand was at 139.7 tonnes during the same period last year.
The value of demand, however, reached a record high of Rs 1,98,100 crores, up 50 percent from the second quarter of 2025, according to WGC Regional CEO Sachin Jain.
Jain estimated that gold demand for the year will remain between 650 and 750 tonnes, with the current geopolitical landscape and inflation contributing to a potential decrease in prices and customs duty.
