Indian Gold Prices Dip Amid International Weakness

Gold prices in India remained relatively stable on July 23, despite weakness in international bullion markets. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures dropped by around 0.36% to ₹1,42,300 per 10 grams, while silver futures fell by a similar margin to ₹2,18,580 per kilogram.

Market participants are closely monitoring global economic data, US interest rate expectations, and currency movements for direction in precious metal prices. In the retail market, gold is being traded mainly in two purities: 24-karat and 22-karat. While 24-karat gold is considered purest, 22-karat gold is preferred for jewelry due to its strength and durability.

The rates of gold at leading jewellers, such as Joyalukkas and Malabar Gold & Diamonds, rose slightly on July 17. However, the marginal differences in retail prices are influenced by brand-specific pricing policies, procurement costs, and regional market conditions.
