Indian Gold Prices Fall Amid Global Softening Ahead of Fed Decision
Gold prices in India fell on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, due to softer global bullion prices ahead of the US Federal Reserve's interest rate decision. The price of 24-carat gold dropped by ₹66 per gram from the previous day to ₹14,351 per gram, while 22-carat gold and 18-carat gold fell to ₹13,155 per gram and ₹10,763 per gram respectively.
The Indian rupee's appreciation against the US dollar also contributed to the decline in gold prices. The USD/INR currency pair rate stood at 95.79 on Wednesday, where the US dollar fell by 0.07% against the Indian rupee.
Silver prices remained unchanged and traded at ₹235 per gram and ₹2,35,000 per kilogram, offering some stability in an otherwise volatile market.
