Indian Gold Prices Hold Steady Amid Global Market Fluctuations
Gold prices in India remained relatively stable on August 19, with minor fluctuations across different purity levels. The price of 24K gold stood at ₹15,590 per gram, while 22K and 18K gold were priced at ₹14,291 and ₹11,693 respectively. These prices are a ₹1 increase from the previous day's rates.
The city-wise rates for gold remain largely consistent across major cities in India. Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Thiruvananthapuram all reported similar price points for 24K, 22K, and 18K gold.
It's worth noting that global production and supply of gold can influence prices in India. China is currently the world's largest gold producer, while South Africa has seen a significant decline in its share of global production over the years. Changes in gold production can impact prices by affecting global supply, but other factors such as consumer demand, economic conditions, interest rates, inflation, currency movements, and geopolitical developments also play a crucial role.
