Indian Gold Prices Plunge Amid Anticipation of Fed Rate Hike
Gold prices in India have fallen due to the upcoming Federal Reserve rate decision. On September 15, 2026, the price of 24-karat gold was ₹1,54,080 per 10 grams, a decline of ₹490 from Friday's close. This marks the weakest shop price since early August.
The retreat is attributed to a surge in US Treasury yields following the release of consumer price data, which showed American inflation holding firmer than anticipated. The probability of a Federal Reserve rate increase rose to between 86 and 92 percent overnight futures pricing, contributing to higher borrowing costs.
Gold's price has softened due to rising interest rates, as it pays no yield. London spot bullion slid to around $4,287 per troy ounce by Sunday's close, pulling India Bullion and Jewellers Association's morning benchmark lower when domestic markets opened on Monday.
