Indian Gold Prices Rebound on Sunday, but Monday's Direction Uncertain
Despite Friday's Jackson Hole selloff, gold prices in India rebounded on Sunday, with 24-carat gold reaching ₹15,890 per gram, a ₹66 recovery from Saturday's post-selloff trough.
The weekend trading saw international spot gold climb toward $4,585 per troy ounce, pulling back from Friday's intraday low near $4,454.08. This partial rebound is consistent with a pattern seen throughout 2026, where four of the year's seven largest single-session declines in gold were followed by partial recoveries as physical buyers treated the discount as a purchase window.
However, the direction of Monday's MCX open remains uncertain, and the broader picture has not changed: 24-carat gold is still down roughly ₹220 from Thursday's pre-Jackson Hole levels. The market is awaiting clearer signals from central banks and the FOMC meeting scheduled for September 15-16.
