Indian Gold Prices Soar as Diplomatic Tensions Ease
Gold prices across major cities in India surged sharply on Thursday, August 6, 2026. Leading jewellery brands increased their rates for 22-karat gold, with Tanishq, Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Kalyan Jewellers, and Joyalukkas all raising their prices to Rs 13,770 per gram across various cities.
The Indian Bullion and Jewellers Association's (IBJA) indicative retail selling rates also saw a significant rise. Fine gold increased by ₹273 per gram, while 22-karat gold rose by ₹267 per gram compared to the previous day's prices.
According to Prithviraj Kothari, managing director at RiddiSiddhi Bullions Ltd. and president of IBJA, the surge in gold prices is due to a combination of factors, including hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough between the US and Iran, easing oil-price pressure, and reducing pressure on central banks.
