Indian Markets Dip as Crude Oil Prices Soar Above $91
Indian stock markets declined in early trade on Tuesday as crude oil prices surged to USD 91 per barrel and tensions between Iran and the US escalated.
The BSE Sensex dropped by 278.32 points to 77,450.64, while the Nifty slipped by 57.65 points to 24,230.45.
Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints, InterGlobe Aviation, Infosys, HCL Tech, and Tech Mahindra were among the laggards, but Reliance Industries, Sun Pharma, Maruti, and Axis Bank managed to stay afloat.
V K Vijayakumar of Geojit Investments Ltd attributed the market's decline to rising crude oil prices and increased US 10-year bond yields, which negatively impacted FII inflows.
