Indian Markets Open Higher as Crude Oil Prices Ease
Indian equity benchmarks began trading higher on Wednesday as easing crude oil prices lifted market sentiment. The Sensex opened at 77,892.10, up 236.01 points or 0.30 per cent, while the Nifty started at 24,341.95, increasing by 7.40 points or 0.03 per cent.
The decline in oil prices was led by Brent crude, which fell more than 2 per cent to around $86 per barrel. The decrease in oil prices amid reports of a potential ceasefire between the US and Iran and efforts to resume shipping through the Strait of Hormuz supported market sentiment.
Analysts noted that while these factors may not be enough to trigger a sharp rally, they could provide some support to global equities. However, they also cautioned that several heavyweight stocks remain technically weak and that stretched valuations are still a concern.
