Indian Markets Plummet Amid Crude Price Volatility
The Indian capital markets opened on Thursday with a negative note as crude oil prices remained near $90 a barrel. The Nifty 50 and Sensex started trading lower, with the former down by 77 points or 0.31% at 24,359, while the latter dropped by 119 points or 0.15% to open at 77,847.42.
The Asian peers were trading quietly in morning trade, but crude prices continued to weigh on Indian investor sentiment. The GIFT Nifty indicated a negative start for Indian markets, down by 50 points or 0.20%. On Wednesday, the Nifty 50 closed at 24,435.95, while the Sensex ended at 77,966.
The US futures were trading flat on Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average tied to just above the flatline. The S&P 500 futures fell marginally, and Nasdaq-100 futures slipped by 0.1%. On Wednesday, the US stock market surged due to a tame inflation report, with the S&P 500 index climbing 0.26%.
