Indian Markets Plunge Amid Rising Global Economic Concerns
Benchmark indices plummeted in early trade on Friday due to escalating Middle East tensions and rising global economic concerns.
The BSE Sensex fell 622.18 points, or 0.83%, to 74,280.41 at 9:38 am, while the Nifty 50 declined 217.60 points, or 0.93%, to 23,260.20.
Brent crude surged above $108 a barrel, up 0.92%, and WTI crude rose 0.83% to $103.33 due to fears of shipping disruptions in the Middle East.
Dr V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Investments Limited, stated that 'headwinds for the market are getting stronger with the escalation in the Middle East conflict.'
