Silver prices in India surged to Rs 2.17 lakh per kilogram on July 29, driven by fresh positions and a firm global trend.

The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) saw silver futures rise 0.69% for September delivery, increasing by Rs 1,484 to Rs 2,17,324 per kilogram in a business turnover of 874 lots.

Analysts attributed the price hike to fresh positions built up by participants.
