Indian Silver Prices Plunge by 0.83% Amid Strong Dollar and Geopolitical Tensions
Silver prices in India have taken a hit, dropping by 0.83% as of September 2nd, 2026. According to data from financial markets, the price of 1 gm of silver is currently at ₹232, down from its previous close. The 10 gm and 1 kg rates also saw a decline, with prices standing at ₹2,324 and ₹232,410 respectively.
The strong US dollar has been cited as one reason for the drop in silver prices, making non-interest-bearing assets less appealing to investors. Additionally, renewed geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran have contributed to the decline, as high oil prices stoke inflationary concerns and weigh negatively on precious metals like silver.
Analysts suggest that silver may remain range-bound in the near term, with markets watching developments in the West Asia conflict. Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, noted that 'the overall near-term bias stays bearish with a break below $64,000; a sustained move above $65,000 could improve momentum and stabilize the current weakness.'
Investors are advised to track domestic rates as well as international trends before making buying decisions. The US Federal Reserve's upcoming meeting is also being watched closely, with traders anticipating a 70% chance of a rate hike.
