Indian Stock Market Declines Amid Global Economic Uncertainty
The Indian stock market experienced a decline on August 25, with the SENSEX falling by 201.32 points or 0.26% to trade at 77,167.79. The NIFTY50 also slipped, marking an 88.10-point or 0.36% decline.
Fertiliser stocks were among the buzzing shares on the market, with Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) surging as much as 15%. This rise was attributed to Russia's assurance of uninterrupted supply of energy and fertilisers amid the West Asia crisis.
However, not all shares performed well. IIFL Finance saw its share price decline more than 7%, while Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) fell around 1% due to the company looking to acquire a full stake in Porsche AG's subsidiary MHP Management-und IT-Beratung GmbH for an enterprise value of €320 million.
Other notable shares included Hindustan Copper, which declined more than 6%, and PVR Inox, whose shares rallied as much as 4.27% before falling in the red.
