Indian Stock Market Declines Amid Rising Crude Oil Prices and Geopolitical Tensions
The Indian stock market declined in early trading on Tuesday due to rising crude oil prices and concerns over potential disruptions to energy supplies.
The Sensex fell by 365 points or 0.47 per cent to 77,362, hitting an intraday low, while the Nifty traded 76 points or 0.31 per cent lower at 24,211.
Sector-wise, the Nifty IT was the top loser, declining more than 1 per cent. Meanwhile, financial services and private banks also traded marginally lower.
Analysts noted that a resilient Indian economy and signs of an earnings growth turnaround could provide support to domestic equities. However, heightened geopolitical tensions are likely to keep markets volatile.
