Indian Stock Market Drops Amid Banking Weakness and Crude Oil Volatility
The Indian stock market experienced a decline on Friday, breaking a two-day gaining streak. The Sensex and Nifty indices fell due to weakness in banking and financial stocks, as well as concerns over elevated crude oil prices.
Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv were among the top laggards, with ICICI Bank, Trent, Axis Bank, and Asian Paints also contributing to the decline. Brent crude traded above USD 82 per barrel, adding to investor uncertainty.
Federal Institutional Investors offloaded equities worth Rs 17.86 crore on Thursday, indicating a cautious approach. The market sentiment remains measured as the absence of a definitive geopolitical resolution in the Middle East continues to keep crude oil prices volatile.
