Indian Stock Market Opens Lower Amid Rising Oil Prices and US-Iran Tensions
The stock market opened lower in India on Tuesday, with the Sensex falling 274 points to trade at 77,454. The Nifty 50 index slipped 64 points to settle at 24,223 in pre-open.
The decline was attributed to a rise in crude prices due to concerns about US-Iran tensions. Oil prices advanced as traders assessed the dynamics between the two nations, with the October futures trading 0.09 per cent higher at $91.13 per barrel on the Intercontinental Exchange.
The rupee opened weaker against the US dollar, trading at 95.66 compared to Monday's close of 95.60 a dollar.
