Indian Stock Markets Bounce Back Amid Geopolitical Tensions
Indian stock markets were trading marginally higher on Friday, August 21, amid elevated crude oil prices due to geopolitical tensions and a sharp decline in US markets. The benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty initially traded lower before bouncing back.
The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 25.97 points to 77,506.51 in early deals, while the 50-share NSE Nifty skidded 5.75 points to 24,223.10. However, both indices rebounded and were trading higher.
Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharat Electronics, HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, Tata Steel, and ICICI Bank were among the biggest winners among Sensex firms. Interglobe Aviation, Titan, Hindustan Unilever, and Trent were among the laggards.
