Indian Stock Markets Climb on Lower Crude Oil Prices
Stock markets in India gained ground on Thursday, August 6, as lower crude oil prices and buying interest in Reliance Industries boosted sentiment.
The BSE Sensex rose 201.43 points to 78,782.43 in opening trade, while the Nifty edged up 16.35 points to 24,641.
The Reserve Bank of India maintained a status quo on its benchmark policy rate for the fourth consecutive meeting on Wednesday, retaining the stance as 'neutral' with Governor Sanjay Malhotra saying the next move will be data-dependent.
