Indian Stock Markets Surge Amid Crude Oil Price Drop
Stock markets in India surged on August 3, 2026, as crude oil prices dropped sharply amid easing geopolitical tensions. The Sensex and Nifty indices jumped in early deals, with the BSE Sensex rising 470.06 points to 78,564.70 and the NSE Nifty climbing 150 points to 24,532.95.
The decline in crude oil prices was a key factor contributing to the market's optimism, with Brent crude trading 4.9% lower at $83.56 per barrel. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) also bought equities worth ₹277.48 crore on July 31, 2026.
Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, an online trading and wealth-tech firm, attributed the improved investor sentiment to a sharp correction in crude oil prices, which prompted investors to unwind recent risk premiums.
