Indian Stocks End Flat as Oil Prices and Geopolitics Weigh
The Indian stock market ended flat on Monday, August 10, with select heavyweights like Titan, Bajaj Finance, and ICICI Bank gaining ground. However, these gains were largely offset by losses in SBI and Reliance.
Elevated oil prices and geopolitical uncertainties kept sentiment cautious, leading to a mixed bag of performances across various sectors.
The Sensex rose 43 points, or 0.06%, to end at 78,542, while the Nifty 50 inched up by 13 points, or 0.05%, to settle at 24,583.80.
Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Investments, noted that markets remained on a tight leash due to uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, tempering risk appetite even as encouraging corporate earnings lent support to broader sentiment.
