Indian Stocks Open Flat as Oil Prices Rise and Bond Yields Climb
India's stock market started off flat on Wednesday as oil prices continued to rise and global bond yields climbed. The Nifty 50 index declined by 0.05%, while the Sensex fell by 0.01% at pre-open.
This is the sixth consecutive session of decline for the Nifty 50, and it has raised concerns about the impact of rising US Treasury yields on emerging market assets. Higher yields can make bonds more attractive to investors, which could lead to a decrease in equity valuations.
Despite this broader trend, foreign investors turned buyers on Tuesday, purchasing Indian equities worth Rs 1,652 crore ($172.66 million). This was their second buying session in the past six trading days.
