The Indian stock market kicked off Monday on a positive note, outperforming its Asian counterparts. The benchmark Nifty 50 surged 0.69% to 24,552.95, while the BSE Sensex gained 0.72% to 78,658.01.

Fourteen of the 16 major sectoral indices registered gains at the open, indicating a broad-based rally in the market. Small-cap stocks rose 0.7%, and mid-caps added 0.4%.

The rupee also strengthened, appreciating by 31 paise to 95.12 against the US dollar. This gain was attributed to a decline in global crude oil prices and a softer greenback, as well as FII inflows and support from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
