Indian Stocks Slide as Crude Oil Surges Past $91 Per Barrel
Stock markets in India declined in early trade on Tuesday as crude oil prices surged to $91 per barrel, and rising tensions between Iran and the US weighed heavily on investors' sentiment.
The Sensex fell by 278.32 points to 77,450.64, while the Nifty dropped by 57.65 points to 24,230.45 in early trade.
Among the laggards were Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints, InterGlobe Aviation, Infosys, HCL Tech, and Tech Mahindra, according to Sensex data.
The winners included Reliance Industries, Sun Pharma, Maruti, and Axis Bank.
