Indian Stocks Slide as Crude Prices Soar
Stock markets in India declined on Friday after two days of gains, dragged down by bank and financial stocks. The Sensex benchmark index fell 455.59 points to settle at 78,499.17, while the Nifty dipped 65.35 points to end at 24,570.65.
The decline was driven by elevated crude oil prices trading above $80 per barrel mark. Bajaj Finance tanked 5.90 percent and Bajaj Finserv was down 4.18 percent, while ICICI Bank, Trent, Axis Bank, and Asian Paints also fell.
However, some stocks managed to buck the trend, with Tata Consultancy Services, Mahindra & Mahindra, State Bank of India, and Tech Mahindra posting gains.
