Indian Stocks Surge as Iran War Pause and Oil Price Correction Lift Sentiment
The Indian stock market experienced a significant rally on July 27th as investors' sentiments were boosted by the pause in Iran War and sharp correction in crude oil prices. The Sensex rose by 776.01 points or 1.02% to close at 76,835.78, while the Nifty was up by 228.50 points or 0.96% at 23,995.95.
Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Investments Limited, attributed the relief rally in markets to the easing of concerns over rising import costs and inflation due to the pause in strikes in West Asia. He also mentioned that the sharp correction in crude oil prices, along with a decline in long-term bond yields, has raised hopes for a durable resolution.
Nair further highlighted that key central bank policy meetings this week may provide greater flexibility to maintain the status quo on interest rates. On the domestic front, he noted that a narrowing rainfall deficit is adding comfort to the inflation outlook, supported by better-than-expected Q1 earnings and a positive business outlook.
