Indian Tankers Safely Navigate Strait of Hormuz Amid Ongoing Conflict

Two Indian-flagged tankers, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, have successfully navigated through the critical Strait of Hormuz. This comes as a rare exception in the disrupted naval chokepoint due to the ongoing Middle East conflict. According to Rajesh Kumar Sinha, India's special secretary of the ministry of ports, shipping and waterways, 'They crossed the Strait of Hormuz early morning safely and are en route to India.'

The tankers are carrying around 92,700 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), bound for the western ports of Mundra and Kandla. India is the world's fourth-largest buyer of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and second-largest buyer of LPG.

The safe passage follows talks between New Delhi and Tehran in recent days. Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar confirmed discussions with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on the latest developments regarding the conflict.
