India's Diesel Prices Remain Steady Amid Global Oil Market Volatility
Diesel prices in India remain unchanged at Rs 95.20 per liter in Delhi and Rs 90.03 in Mumbai, as of August 16, 2026.
According to data from Hindustan Times, the current diesel prices are influenced by international crude oil prices, refining costs, excise duty, dealer commissions, and state-level Value Added Tax (VAT).
The country imports around 80% of its oil needs, making domestic pump rates dependent on global prices. A weak rupee also affects the landed cost of dollar-denominated crude oil.
