India's Diversified LNG Imports Weather Strait of Hormuz Storm

India's liquefied natural gas imports surged by 15.4% in the May-July period, despite the Strait of Hormuz crisis disrupting supply routes in West Asia.

The country imported 7.08 million tonnes of LNG during these three months, marking a significant increase from the same period last year.

However, imports fell in March and April due to a sharp drop in LNG coming from Qatar, India's biggest supplier.

The crisis highlighted how closely India's gas system is linked to the Gulf, with a large share of its LNG imports normally passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
