India's Fuel Supplies Remain Adequate Amid Global Crisis

The Indian government has assured that domestic LPG supplies are smooth and uninterrupted across the country. Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Sujata Sharma, said at an inter-ministerial briefing that no dry-out of LPG cylinders has been reported at any distributor.

Sharma advised consumers to opt for online booking and avoid rushing to distributor showrooms directly to prevent panic buying. As of yesterday, over 81 thousand 5 kg cylinders were sold, while more than 1.33 lakh 5 kg cylinders have been sold so far through awareness camps.

The Secretary further added that commercial LPG supply has been restored up to 70 per cent, with over 1.47 lakh LPG cylinders sold in April so far. In terms of natural gas, around 5.27 lakh PNG connections have been gasified, and additional infrastructure has been developed for over 2.6 lakh more connections.

Sharma also assured that Petrol and diesel supplies are adequate across the country, with no dry-out reported at any petrol pump. She stressed that due to rumours, panic buying has been observed in some areas, but urged people not to engage in panic buying as supplies are sufficient.
