India's Gas Transition Hinges on Stronger Pipeline Economics
India's natural gas expansion will depend on stronger pipeline economics and better network utilization, according to PNGRB Secretary Anjan Kumar Mishra.
Mishra outlined the regulator's priorities at the ET Energy Leadership Summit 2026, including revised pipeline bidding norms, greater network utilization, and imbalance charge reforms.
He emphasized the importance of building a system capable of balancing availability, affordability, and sustainability in response to recent disruptions in global energy markets.
The regulator is working on new bidding parameters for natural gas pipelines to address volume risk and make pipeline transportation more attractive to investors.
