India's Gem and Jewellery Exports See 3.14% Rise in August Despite High Gold Prices
India's gem and jewellery exports saw a 3.14% increase in dollar terms to $2.30 billion in August, despite high gold prices and weak demand for plain gold jewellery.
The Gross Exports grew by 12.52% year-on-year to ₹21,945.87 crore in rupee terms, compared to $2.23 billion (₹19,503.52 crore) the previous year, according to data released by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).
The export mix showed a clear shift towards higher-value finished products, with studded gold jewellery exports surging 51.22% in dollar terms to $642.85 million.
