India's Gold Market Sees Resurgence Despite Record Prices
Gold prices have surged above ₹1.5 lakh per 10 grams in India, yet buyers are returning to the market.
This is despite the high cost, with gold imports more than doubling in July and jewellers replenishing their inventories ahead of the festive season.
The World Gold Council's latest India market update suggests that this recovery could gain strength as India enters its peak wedding season.
However, this is not a return to the old gold rush. High prices are shrinking jewellery volumes, pushing families towards lighter pieces and turning more buyers into investors.
