India's Gold Prices Remain Stable Amid Minor Fluctuations
The gold prices in India remained relatively stable on September 7, despite some minor fluctuations. The price of 24-karat gold decreased by one rupee per gram from ₹15,480 to ₹15,479, while 22-karat gold declined by ₹1 from ₹14,190 to ₹14,189. Similarly, the 18-karat gold rate also eased by ₹1, falling from ₹11,610 to ₹11,609 per gram.
The city-wise rates for gold and silver were also reported, with Chennai seeing a slight increase in gold prices, while Mumbai saw a minor decrease. The availability of above-ground gold and recycled supplies can help meet India's demand, although domestic prices continue to be influenced by international gold prices, currency movements, import costs, and local demand.
Gold is widely used in electronics due to its resistance to corrosion and tarnishing, as well as its ability to conduct electricity reliably. Although the amount of gold in individual electronic devices is small, the overall quantity can be significant due to the enormous volume of electronic products manufactured and discarded globally. This contributes to industrial demand for gold.
