India's Gold Prices Soar Amid Geopolitical Uncertainty
India's gold market is experiencing a sharp price increase due to geopolitical tensions and shifting interest rate expectations, pushing prices to a new high of approximately Rs 1.52 lakh per 10 grams for 24-carat gold.
The price surge, which has risen around 7% in just ten days, is attributed to rising uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and changes in US Federal Reserve interest rate policies following recent economic data.
Despite record-high prices, consumers are accelerating purchases ahead of the festive season, fearing that prices could climb further. This 'fear of missing out' on lower prices is currently keeping market activity resilient.
However, industry leaders anticipate a 10% dip in sales volumes due to the high cost of gold, but the total monetary value of sales is expected to remain steady or even increase.
