India's Gold Prices Surge ₹4,970 Amid Global Uncertainty
Gold prices have been on the rise in India for the past week, fueled by both global and domestic factors. According to data from MCX, gold prices started at ₹1,55,660 per 10 grams on August 17 and closed at ₹1,60,630 by the end of trading day today.
The weekly gain of ₹4,970 is a significant increase, with Thursday seeing the biggest movement when 24K gold jumped by ₹4,300 per 10 grams. Geopolitical concerns and a weaker US dollar were cited as possible market triggers for this surge in prices.
In addition to global factors, domestic demand also played a role in driving up gold prices. The upcoming festive season is expected to lead to increased physical demand for gold from Indian jewellers, pushing prices higher.
