India's Gold Prices Surge Amid Global Uncertainty
Gold prices in India increased on August 20, 2026, driven by domestic buying and ongoing safe-haven demand amid global uncertainty. The national average price of 24K gold rose to ₹15,927 per gram, with a ₹430 increase. Silver prices also moved up, nearing ₹2.55 lakh per kilogram in several major markets.
According to data from GoodReturns, the price of 24-carat gold increased by ₹430, taking it to around ₹1,59,270 for 10 grams. Silver gained nearly ₹10,000 per kilogram, trading close to ₹2,55,000. The rise came despite mixed signals from international bullion markets and fluctuations in the rupee.
The highest 24K gold rate among major cities was recorded in Delhi at ₹15,942 per gram, followed by Vadodara and Ahmedabad at around ₹15,932 per gram. For 22K gold, Delhi was at ₹14,615 per gram, while Vadodara and Ahmedabad were around ₹14,605 per gram.
Silver prices remained close to ₹255 per gram, or around ₹2,55,000 per kilogram, across several major markets. Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata recorded rates of around ₹2.55 lakh per kilogram, while Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kerala were higher at approximately ₹2.60 lakh per kilogram.
