India's Jewellery Sector Sees Shift to Lighter-Weight, Lower-Carat Pieces Amid Record-High Gold Prices
India's jewellery sector is witnessing a significant shift in consumer behavior, with buyers opting for lighter-weight, lower-carat, and studded pieces despite record-high gold prices.
Titan Company's jewellery division reported a 43% year-on-year growth in revenue to ₹18,253 crore in Q1 FY27, while Kalyan Jewellers' consolidated revenue rose by 45% YoY to ₹10,589 crore.
Senco Gold, on the other hand, saw its diamond jewellery value grow by 43%, with volumes increasing by 18%. The company also launched a new men's collection featuring titanium-gold-diamond combinations priced between ₹20,000 and ₹1 lakh.
The World Gold Council's data shows that India's jewellery demand fell 17.1% by volume in H1 2026, while the value rose 40% to ₹2.13 lakh crore. This trend is also visible across the broader gold market, where total Q2 demand fell 6% even as its value hit a record ₹1.98 lakh crore.
