India's LNG Imports Soar as European Supplies Dwindle
India's liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports surged by 28% in June 2026, reaching 2.659 million tons, a record high since October 2024, according to Russia's news agency Interfax.
This significant increase is attributed to the redirection of LNG supplies from the European market, where imports fell by 18% due to peak summer demand.
As a result, the United States became India's largest LNG supplier in June, providing 562,000 tons or 21% of supplies.
