India's Markets Tumble Amid Iran-US Tensions and Crude Price Hike
The Indian equity indices declined on Monday due to rising tensions between Iran and the US. Crude oil prices surged as concerns grew about supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz, which handles around 20% of global crude supplies.
The Sensex fell by 198.71 points or 0.26% to trade at 76,316.72, while Nifty 50 dropped 59.75 points or 0.25% to 23,837.95. This decline occurred despite the broader market's four-session losing streak snapping on Friday.
The escalation of tensions between Iran and the US has led to a significant increase in oil prices. WTI Crude rose 0.66% to $92.08 per barrel, while Brent Crude traded higher by 0.58% at $96.84. Murban Crude declined 1.36% to $103.30.
