India's Oil Imports Hit by US-Iran Tensions
Indian oil refiners are facing delays in receiving their usual crude shipments from the Middle East due to rising geopolitical tensions.
The disputes between the US and Iran have made the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial shipping route, riskier for India's oil imports. BPCL missed four cargoes from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Kuwait in August 2026, while IOC has also been affected.
Indian refiners usually plan ahead to keep costs down, but lately, they've had to scramble for last-minute deals just to fill the gaps. Even though they've locked in cargoes for October, these disruptions show how vulnerable India is as the world's third-biggest oil consumer.
