India's OMCs Pay Over Rs 71 Per Litre for Ethanol Amid Global Price Volatility
India's state-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) are paying over Rs 71 per litre for ethanol in the current Ethanol Supply Year, according to a government response to a Lok Sabha question. This figure includes GST and transportation costs.
The weighted average ex-mill price of ethanol for ESY 2025-26 is Rs 66.61 per litre, but with added costs, OMCs are paying an estimated Rs 71.18 per litre for Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), Rs 71.10 per litre for Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) and Rs 71.21 per litre for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL).
The government said that ethanol procurement prices vary depending on the feedstock used, with C-heavy molasses being the cheapest at Rs 57.97 per litre.
