India's Petrol Diesel Prices Steady as Global Energy Market Eyes Strait of Hormuz Deal
The retail prices of petrol and diesel in India remained unchanged on August 8, providing stability to consumers across the country. Major metropolitan cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata reported no fluctuations in fuel rates.
This stability comes at a time when the global energy market is intensely focused on geopolitical developments in West Asia, specifically a potential agreement between Iran and Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical maritime passages for the transport of crude oil and other energy products.
The international oil market is currently monitoring the possibility of a deal between Iran and Oman that could ensure the smooth movement of vessels. If this agreement is finalized and the supply route remains fully operational and secure, it's expected to alleviate the pressure on international crude oil prices by ensuring a steady flow of supply to global markets.
Despite daily fluctuations in Brent crude prices, which saw an increase of 1.3 percent reaching $83.55 per barrel, and American WTI crude experiencing a slight decline of 0.3 percent settling at $77.06 per barrel, market participants are keeping a close eye on the diplomatic front.
