India's Petronet LNG Faces Uncertainty Over Qatari LNG Supplies Amid Hormuz Crisis

India's Petronet LNG is facing uncertainty over its liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies from Qatar due to the ongoing Hormuz crisis. According to A K Singh, CEO of Petronet LNG, there is no clear plan for September LNG supplies from Qatar.

The crisis has disrupted fuel shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, which carries around one-fifth of global oil consumption as well as large quantities of LNG. To mitigate this shortfall, Indian companies are importing LNG from Oman, the U.S., Nigeria, and Angola among others.

Petronet LNG has suspended operations of its three tankers chartered for the import of LNG from Qatar. The company will receive 600,000 metric tons of LNG from Australia's Gorgon project under a supply deal with ExxonMobil this year.
