Indonesia Bolsters Household Gas Network Expansion
Indonesia is accelerating the expansion of its household natural gas network to strengthen national energy security and reduce dependence on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), according to Head of the Government Communications Office Muhammad Qodari.
The government aims to build 119,379 new household gas connections across 15 districts and cities during the 2025-2026 period, up from an initial target of 115,264. The expansion includes 1,765 additional connections in Jambi City, 2,000 in Bontang City, and 350 in Gresik District.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources reported that 119,379 household gas connections were in the completion stage as of August 3, 2026. The government has also started building the first phase of household gas network development in Cirebon District, targeting 41,043 household connections.
