Indonesian Oil Output Trails 2026 Target Amid Pipeline Leak Disruptions
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) revealed that Indonesia's average crude oil production has fallen short of its target for 2026. As of July 31, the country produced around 578,156 barrels per day, which is 5% below the state budget target of 610,000 bpd.
The ESDM attributed the decline to several factors, including a leak in a gas transmission pipeline owned by PT Transportasi Gas Indonesia (TGI) that disrupted production at the Rokan Block. The block was also affected by problems with its electricity system, which hindered operations.
To mitigate these issues, the ministry is working to ensure that the affected power plant can resume operations as soon as possible. This will help optimize production at the Rokan Block and stabilize output. In addition, the government has communicated with the operator of the Cepu Block to slow down the natural decline in production.
