Indonesia's Budget Remains Resilient Amid Global Oil Price Surge
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has stated that Indonesia's 2026 State Budget (APBN) will remain resilient despite a recent surge in global crude oil prices. The minister acknowledged that higher oil prices would narrow the government's fiscal room, but emphasized that this is not a new situation.
The global oil price rise saw West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude prices jump over 6 percent to above $92 per barrel on Thursday, while Brent crude surpassed its highest level since early June at over $100 per barrel. The government had assumed an oil price of $100 per barrel when designing the second-half 2026 economic stimulus package.
Purbaya assured that the rise in global oil prices would not disrupt the implementation of the stimulus package, as it was designed to accommodate relatively high crude oil prices.
